Mary June Ashley Edwards of Greensboro, GA passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Legacy Health and Rehabilitation in Greensboro, GA at the age of 87.  A lifelong resident of Greensboro, Mary was born on July 27, 1930 to the late Eddie Rufus Ashley and Julia Margueritte Baugh Ashley.  After graduating from Greensboro High School in 1947, she married the love of her life, Ernest. She enjoyed being a homemaker and dedicated her life to her family. She raised her two children as well as helped to raise her two grandchildren, which led to her being affectionately known as “Other Mama”. She was an avid fisherman and hunter, spending countless hours enjoying the outdoors with her loved ones. She always had a beautiful and bountiful garden and enjoyed sewing.  She was a member of Walker United Methodist Church.
 
In addition to her husband, Robert Ernest Edwards, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Myra Ann Jones and her husband Wiley; great grandchild, Parker Jones; and a brother, Edward Ashley. Mary is survived by a son, Kenneth Edwards of Greensboro, GA; two grandchildren, Clay Jones and wife Jennifer of Alpharetta, GA and Amanda Gallop and husband Edmund of Wake Forest, NC; four great grandchildren, Aiden Jones, Andrew Jones, Ryan Gallop and Hailey Gallop; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Yearwood officiating. Interment will follow in the Edwards Family Cemetery, 1011 Walker Church Road, Greensboro, GA 30642.  Serving as pallbearers are: Edmund Gallop, Ryan Gallop, Robert Kimbrough, Mitchell Kimbrough, Bill Wheeler, and John Callaway.  The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home.
