Mary Louise King Coleman

Mary Louise King Coleman, age 87, of White Plains, GA, died Friday, February 9, 2007 at Willow Run Retirement Home. She was born on April 7, 1919 in Greene County to the late Sumner Allen King, Sr. and Claudia Isabel Grant King. As a child she attended school in White Plains and graduated from Greensboro High School and Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. In her earlier working career she taught school in Devereux and White Plains and for ten years she was the secretary for the Greene County Board of Education. Mrs. Coleman retired as the postmistress for the White Plains Post Office after twenty-seven years of service. She was a member of White Plains Baptist Church.

Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her siblings, Edna Byington, Sumner A. King, Jr. and Claudia Luckey. She is survived by a son, William R. Coleman and wife Nita of White Plains, GA; three grandsons, James Coleman and wife Amy of White Plains, GA, Allen Coleman and wife Kelly of White Plains, GA and Grant Coleman and wife Shelly of White Plains, GA; two granddaughters, Lydia Coleman and Lacie Coleman of White Plains, GA; two great grand children; Sumner Coleman and Emma Coleman; a sister-in-law, Yvonne T. King of Greenwood, SC; a brother-in-law, Robert L. Luckey of Perry, GA; three nieces, Beth, Barbara and Nancy; and a number of other friends and relatives.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the White Plains Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Norman Waldrip officiating. Interment will follow in White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Ike Moore, Wayne Taylor, Allen Askew, Keith James, Loren Leach and Joe Dunagan. Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of White Plains Baptist Church. The family requests that any memorials be made to the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P. O. Box 38, White Plains, GA 30678. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday night at the funeral home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
