Mary Lucy Rider Chapman

Mary Lucy Rider Chapman, age 76, of Siloam, GA, died Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Greene Point Health Care Center in Union Point. Born on August 20, 1930 in Wilkes County, she was the daughter of the late Roland Fletcher Rider and Ruthie Bell Weaver Rider. Her father''s job as a sawmiller took them to White Plains where she attended school as a young girl. On October 4, 1951 she married Robert Owen "Johnny" Chapman, Sr. at the courthouse in Clarke County. His work took them to Florida and New York but Greene County was always considered home. Their only son, Robbie, was born while they lived in Florida. In the 1970''s she was an inspector for Greensboro Manufacturing retiring in 1978 and later worked for Vantress.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Owen "Johnny" Chapman, Sr. in August of 1971; and siblings, Tom Rider, Wallace Rider and Carrie Graves. She is survived by a son, Robert Owen "Robbie" Chapman, Jr. and wife Mary Jim of Greensboro, GA; four sisters, Myrtle Burrell of Gainesville, GA, Lelia Ingram of Lincolnton, GA, Ruth Ingram of Lincolnton, GA and Martha Johnson of Tennessee; a brother, John Rider of Atlanta, GA; three beloved granddaughters, Lauren Chapman, Lindsey Chapman and JoAnna Chapman; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Siloam Cemetery with Rev. Farrett Boswell officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Cecil Powell, Jeffrey Smith, Roger Webb, Richard Marshall, Wayne Corry and Ricky Easley. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to Nathanael Greene Academy, P. O.
