Mary Reynolds Callaway, age 82, of Union Point, GA, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at her residence. A lifelong resident of Greene County, she was born on February 28, 1924 to the late William Alva Reynolds and Virginia Moody Reynolds. She graduated from Greensboro High School and Draughn Business School in Atlanta. On October 13, 1945 she married Malcolm H. Callaway, Jr. of Union Point, GA and in October of 2005 they celebrated their 60th Anniversary. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Callaway Funeral Home in Union Point, GA for forty-five years. Upon their retirement, they enjoyed living in the country, cooking barbecues and getting together with their family and friends. Mary was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union Point.
Survivors include her husband, Malcolm H. Callaway, Jr. of Union Point, GA; two daughters, Beth Callaway Hunt and husband Jim of Ellijay, GA and Kittie Callaway Caston and husband Richard of Acworth, GA; three grandchildren, Rachel Hunt Tidwell, James Hunt and Cristina Caston; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dr. James W. Reynolds, Billy Reynolds and Robert Reynolds.
Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Union Point with Rev. Lem Clark officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home.
