Mary Jo Davenport Alford, 71, of 4632 Woodlake Lane, died Monday, July 1, 2002. A native of Knox County, Ky., Mrs. Alford was the daughter of the late Joe and Effie Baker Davenport and was the widow of Albert Clay Alford, Jr. She was a graduate of Knox County High School and a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Women''s association and Walker United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn M. West and husband Emory, Conyers, and Deborah A. Briggs and husband John, Duluth; two sons, Albert Clay Alford III and wife Carol, McDonough, and James Carl Alford and wife Paula, Conyers; a brother, Bill Davenport, Artimus, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Beth McCollogh, Mellisa Bennette, Shayne Brown, Amber Brown, Beth Barentine, Jamie Anne Glover, Robert Comstock; eight great-grandchildren, Kylie, Sydney, Ryan, Adam, Camp, Cooper, Cambry and Blake.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2002 at Walker United Methodist Church of Greensboro with the Revs. Rick Maeser and Ira McKeever officiating. Burial will be in Walker Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Shayne Brown, Greg McCollogh, Stephen Bennette, Jason Dean, Bob Cook and Robby Cook.
