Mary Virginia Gordy Aldrich , age 68, of Greensboro, GA died on Monday, October 23, 2006 at Athens Regional Medical Center of severe complications from the renal failure she had experienced this past year. Mary, a licensed cosmetologist for over 40 years, was a smiling face at both Shelley''s and Mandy''s local salons the past 13 years. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on Jan, 2, 1938 to the late Frank Howard Gordy and Florence Evelyn Dawber Gordy. She graduated from Stratford High School and New Haven School of Cosmetology in Connecticut. She lived and worked in Clinton, Connecticut prior to coming to Greensboro in 1992. She was Service Unit Chairman for the Girl Scouts in Middlesex Co., Connecticut and worked with Voter Registration in Clinton, Connecticut. Mary was a member and greeter at Grace Fellowship Church. Painting was her favorite hobby and she was a very good seamstress.
She is survived by her husband, Robert C. "Bob" Aldrich of Greensboro; two daughters, Sandra Doyle of Clinton, Connecticut and Sheryl Lang of Niceville, Florida; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Dr. Jimmy A. Long officiating.
