Marvin Williams Copelan, age 83, died Thursday at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, GA. Marvin was born July 19, 1925 to the late Leo and Leila Copelan of Veazey Community. The native of Greensboro, GA enlisted in the Merchant Marines for seven years and made his home in Statesboro, GA for most of his life. Mr. Copelan was retired from Georgia Power after 37 years of service. He was an active member of the Pittman Park United Methodist Church and a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Statesboro. Proceeding him in death is his wife, Kendall.
Surviving is his daughter and son-in-law Mary Ann and Daniel Jernigan; two grandchildren Anne Marie Jernigan and William D. Jernigan all of Macon GA; one brother Norris Copelan of Martinez, GA.
The graveside funeral service and burial was held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Bulloch Memorial Gardens in Statesboro with Rev. Mike Huling officiating.
