Martha Jackson Wimbish

Martha Jackson Wimbish, 85, of Stone Mountain, GA passed away on June 9, 2016 at DeKalb Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Greene County on October 10, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Leon Darien Jackson and Versie Wood Jackson. She was a member of Greensboro High  School Class of 1947 and then attended secretarial school in Atlanta. She married James L. Wimbish on August 4, 1950 in Atlanta, GA.  In the beginning of her marriage she worked for several insurance companies around Atlanta, but being a homemaker and taking care of her two daughters was her most important job. Martha enjoyed life, travelling and being with her family.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Wimbish in 1998.  Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Wimbish Burch and her husband Butch of Calhoun, GA and Janet Stewart Martin and her husband Bobby of Dallas, GA; and a brother, Dr. James Larry Jackson and his wife Valerie.  She is also survived by two grandchildren, Wimberly Burch and Scott Stewart and his wife Sara Dawn; a number of other relatives; many friends and her beloved cat, Toby.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the Siloam Cemetery,  Church Street, Siloam, GA 30665 with Scott Stewart officiating. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
