Martha Perkins Obituary

Martha Tuggle Perkins, 79, of Greensboro, GA, died Friday, March 2, 2007 at Heartland Hospice in Augusta, GA. A lifelong resident of Greene County, Martha was born February 27, 1928 to the late Hillyer Butler Tuggle and Gertrude Hubbard Tuggle. She attended school in Union Point and Greensboro. During her working career she was an employee at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital in the late sixties, worked for the Credit Bureau, Wayne Poultry and owned a catering business. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro where she taught the Amicus Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. "Jack" Perkins, Sr. in February of 2002. Surviving family members are her son, Dr. James A. "Jackie" Perkins, Jr. and wife LeAnne of Evans, GA; her daughters, Jillyn Bradshaw and husband Wayne of Athens, GA and Kathy Channell and husband Dene of Greensboro, GA; a sister, Helen Cook of Decatur, AL; a brother, William T. "Bill" Tuggle of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren, Todd Perkins and wife Brooke, Erika Perkins Bible and husband Jason, Ethan Perkins, and fiance'' Brandy Walker, Ross Tice, Joseph Tice, Leighton Channell and wife Amber and Logan Channell; three great grandchildren, Rivers Perkins, Caelan Perkins and Haleigh Perkins; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 5, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Greensboro with Rev. Michael Hardy, Rev. Dr. Norman Waldrip and Dr. James A. Perkins, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons: Todd Perkins, Ethan Perkins, Ross Tice, Joe Tice, Leighton Channell, Logan Channell and Jason Bible. Serving as honorary pallbearers are the members of Amicus Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night at the funeral home.
