Marshall Drake, age 86, of Union Point, GA died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro, GA. A lifelong resident of Union Point, Marshall was born May 18, 1927, the son of the late Wade and Velva Mae Eberhart Drake. He grew up in Union Point and graduated from Union Point High School. On February 29, 2008, he married Susan Juanita “Nita” Allen. During his working career he worked for J. W. Ivey in Greensboro, GA and Bickers and Goodwin in Greensboro, GA. Then he went to work for Rhodes and Kilgore Drug Company in Union Point as a clerk, where he retired after thirty-seven years. He had a smile and kind word to say to everyone who came by. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Union Point, but more recently had been attending Union Point Worship Center.
Marshall is survived by his wife, Nita Allen Drake of Union Point, GA; step-daughters, Laura A. Moody and husband Donald of Maxeys, GA, Pam A. Vaughn and husband Brian of Union Point, GA and Michelle A. Brooks and husband Mark of Union Point, GA; step-son, Gary Allen and wife Lowella of Union Point, GA; ten step-grandchildren; one step great grandson; a number of cousins and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Callaway Funeral Home Chapel, 208 N. Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Johnny Barrett and Rev. Brenda Vandiver officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service at Callaway Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are step-grandsons: Ryan Moody, Jonathan Moody, Matthew Brooks, Joshua Brooks, Justin Vaughn and Andrew Allen. Honorary pallbearers are Brad Vaughn, Carol Sisson, Henry Sisson, Lanier Rhodes, Dr. W. H. Rhodes, Jimmy Lee Sellers and Leonard McElhannon. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
