Markus Thomas Casper passed away suddenly at Doctors Hospital of Augusta on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the age of 53. He was born on March 14, 1964 to the late Eddie O’Dean Casper and Georgia Mae Meadows Casper Holliday. He graduated from Oglethorpe County High School. After high school he joined the United States Navy and served during the Invasion of Grenada. After his honorable discharge he worked as a cook at both the University of Georgia and Athens Regional Medical Center. For a while he lived in Arkansas and moved from there to Augusta, GA twenty years ago. Mark loved Jesus and enjoyed reading the Bible, other books, collecting knives and going to flea markets. Mark was a kind soul that loved everybody and wanted to be loved by everybody. He especially enjoyed helping older people and kids. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Comforter in Martinez.
Mark is survived by a sister, Judy Casper McMeekin of Surfside Beach, SC; brother, Michael Edward Casper (Renee) of Winterville, GA; nephew, Thomas Gabriel McMeekin; niece, Heather Nicole Casper; other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father, James Ronald Holliday.
Memorial services were held Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Church of the Holy Comforter, 473 Furys Ferry Road, Martinez, GA 30907 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Joe Bowen officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Church of the Resurrection in Surfside Beach, SC.
