Marjorie Amos Barnes Robinson
Marjorie Amos Barnes “Flip” Robinson, 90, of White Plains, Georgia, died on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital. Born in White Plains, Georgia, on February 23, 1924, she was one of eight children born to the late James Henry Amos and Lucy Permelia Stewart Amos. She attended Greensboro High School. She married Hugh Dorsey Barnes who preceded her in death and later married J. P. Robinson who also preceded her in death. During her working career she worked for the Clothes Closet in Greensboro, Jarrard’s Grocery in Siloam and for a while she worked at Sears. She was a member of White Plains Baptist Church. Flip enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, doing word search puzzles, listening to gospel music and watching Wheel of Fortune.
She was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Barnes; all of her siblings, Jessie Belvin Amos, Clarence Amos, Elsie Amos Barnes, Edith Amos, Ethel Amos, Dorothy Amos Barnes and James “Sonny” Amos. She is survived by four daughters, Elaine Barnes Bowman of Jacksonville, FL, Martha Ann Barnes Shupe and husband Ron of Loganville, GA, Peggy Barnes Shaffer and husband Dennis of Lawrenceville, GA and Deborah Barnes Moore and husband Frank of White Plains, GA; five grandchildren, Greg Shupe (Jodi), John Kosakowski, Paula Bush (Mitch), Russ Moore (Suzanne), and Steven Moore (Kathryn); six great grandchildren, Bryce Shupe, Bailey Shupe, Connor Bush, Piper Kosakowski, Will Moore and Darby Kathryn Moore; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held, Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at White Plains Baptist Church, 1020 Main Street East, White Plains, GA 30678 with Bob Beeland officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Stephens Baptist Church Cemetery, Edwards Road, White Plains, GA 30678. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons, Greg Shupe, John Kosakowski, Russ Moore, and Steven Moore, great grandson, Bryce Shupe and nephew, Jimmy Amos. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at the church. The family requests that any memorials be made to White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P. O.
