Marjorie Howell Rhodes

Marjorie Viola Howell Rhodes, age 88, of White Plains, GA, died Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Greene Point Health Care Center in Union Point. Born in Wilkes County on July 26, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Thomas P. Howell and Jessie Viola Stewart. She graduated from Alexander Stephens Institute in Crawfordville, GA. Mrs. Rhodes worked for Royal Manufacturing Company in production and later at Union Pharmacy in Union Point. She was a member of Margaret''s Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Campbell Rhodes; sister, Allene Veazey, half sisters, Laura Rogers, Cleora Helrigle, Eula Burnley and Mary V. Nunn; half brothers, Joe Frank Howell, Clyde Howell and Harvey Howell. She is survived by two sons, Clayton Rhodes and wife Pam of Eatonton, GA and Horace Lee Rhodes of Macon, GA; a good friend, Bill Trentham of Union Point, GA; sister, Lottie Mae Godbee of Crawfordville, GA; sister-in-law, Mary Howell of Sparta, GA; a grandson, Brian Rhodes of Douglasville, GA and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 4, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at Margaret''s Grove Baptist Church in Crawfordville, GA with Rev. Tommy Hammond officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Lawrence Nunn, Paul Jackson, Stan Jackson, Billy Burnley, Andy Moore and Larry Veazey. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
