Marion "Matt" Walker Fortson, Jr

Marion Walker “Matt” Fortson, Jr., age 54, of Greensboro, GA, died September 5, 2004 at his residence. On January 11, 1950 he was born in Fulton County to Sara Robinson Fortson of Greensboro, GA and the late Marion Walker Fortson, Sr. He graduated from Downey High School and Modesto Junior College in Modesto, CA. Most of his life he had resided in Modesto, CA, but in June of 1989 he moved back to Greensboro. He had made many friends and was an avid fisherman and collector of Indian artifacts. He also was a carpenter and refinished antiques. In addition to his mother he is survived by a brother, Gregory Kenneth Fortson and wife Delaine of Modesto, CA; two nieces, Sally Fortson and Sara Fortson; an aunt, Audrey Lunceford of Greensboro, GA; an uncle, Claude Robinson and wife Flossie of Greensboro, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held Thursday, September 9, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer with The Rev. D. Geoffrey Taylor, Rector officiating. Interment will follow at Greenview Cemetery. The family requests that contributions be made to The Good Samaritan Clinic, c/o The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, P.O. Box 93, Greensboro, GA 30642.
