Marion Arberg Obituary

Marion Eberly Arberg, 93, of Greensboro, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2012 at St. Mary''s Hospice House in Athens, Georgia. She was born on January 16, 1919 in Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania to the late Dr. J. Lee Eberly and Grace Schwabenbauer Eberly. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Degree in Education, where she was an honor student and President of Delta Gamma Sorority. It was in college that she met her husband, Carl Paul Arberg Jr. They were married on December 6, 1941, the day before the Pearl Harbor attack, and were devoted to one another for the next 69 years of their marriage. In addition to being of great faith, she was an avid reader and was well-versed in many topics including religion, travel, politics, literature and sports. Marion and Carl shared their early lives together in Verona, New Jersey and Needham and Wayland, Massachusetts, followed by 25 years in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and, finally, 8 years in Atlanta and Greensboro.

Marion is survived by two sons, Lee Arberg and his wife, Carol of Greensboro, Georgia, and Kenneth Arberg and his wife, Gayle of Marietta, Georgia; two grandchildren, Brad and his wife, Brook, and Stacey and her husband, Kevin Urrutia; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler and Drew Urrutia and Hannah and Blair Arberg; as well as a number of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, on February 21, 2011 and by her sister, Jeanne.

The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro, Georgia, 30642.
