Mariflyn Bridges Faircloth
Mariflyn Bridges Faircloth, age 85, of Eatonton, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at her daughter’s residence in Winder, GA. She was born in Sasser, GA on December 30, 1928 to the late Flynn Allen Bridges and Veta Hautman Bridges. She graduated from Terrell High School and earned her LPN from South Georgia Tech, Americus, GA and her RN from Barrett School of Nursing in Augusta, GA. On February 26, 1960 she married James Elvin Faircloth. She spent several years working as a nurse in Americus and Dawson, GA, but spent most of her time rearing her children. In February of 1996 Jim and Mariflyn moved from Americus, GA to Lake Oconee in Putnam County. Mariflyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greensboro, where she enjoyed teaching Bible Study and Sunday School. She enjoyed playing the piano and crocheting. She was also a member of the Chandler Circle, the DAR and the UDC.
Mariflyn is survived by her husband, Jim Faircloth; daughter Mariflyn Hatfield and husband William B.; son James E. Faircloth Jr. and wife Patti; daughter Leesa DaCosta and husband Mark; and daughter Susan Scott and husband Jarrod. In addition she is survived by nine grandchildren: Joseph William Hatfield, Amy Leigh Alther, Mitchell Lee Faircloth, Mark DaCosta Jr., Benjamin Randall Everett, Casey Allen Everett, Jacob Charles Scott, Gina Fair Scott, and Joanna Aileen Scott. She has three great-grandchildren: Hannah Elisabeth Alther, Timothy Hudson Alther, and Mason Cannon Hatfield. She was preceded in death by a brother who died in infancy, as well as a brother, Dr. William Hautman Bridges.
Funeral Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church North Campus, 202 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mike Morgan and Pastor Merry Grayson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at the church. Interment will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Barrow Memorial Gardens, 793 Atlanta Highway S.E., Winder, GA 30680-3290 with Pastor Jon Reed officiating. Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons and nephew, Flynn Allen Bridges. The family requests that any memorials be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, P. O.
