Marie Canup Lankford, age 73, of Union Point, GA, died Thursday, October 27, 2005 at Greene Point Health Care Center in Union Point. She was born on November 27, 1931 to the late William Eugene Canup and Lillie Wilson Canup. Mrs. Lankford was a native of Oglethorpe County, but had lived in Greene County most of her life. She graduated from Union Point High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Union Point.
She is survived by her husband, Carroll Harvey "Sport" Lankford of Union Point, GA; three daughters, Linda Elaine Mitchell of Union Point, GA, Shirley Vetor and husband Joe of Mountain Home, AR and Sharon Johnson and husband Percy of Birmingham, AL; two sons, Wendell Lewis Webb of Union Point, GA and Carson William Webb of Union Point, GA; six stepsons, Clifford Webb of Maxeys, GA, Ricky Lankford and wife Mary of Greensboro, GA, Nicky Lankford and wife Joleen of Greensboro, GA, Mickey "Pete" Lankford of Greensboro, GA, Tony Lankford of Commerce, GA, and Terry Lankford and wife Laura of Commerce, GA; a brother, William "Bill" Canup of Union Point, GA; twenty-one grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Archie D. Webb; her second husband, William O''Neal; a stepson, Fred Webb Sr.; and her siblings, Ona Canup Lackey, Coy Canup, Roy Canup, Myrtle Canup Durham, Eugene Canup, Robert Canup and Maebell Canup Johnson.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church with Rev. Colin Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Ray Strozier, Johnny Barrett, J.W. Canup, Jesse Lankford, Percy Johnson and Dennis Mitchell.
