Mamie Helen Mines Gresham, age 91, of Statham, GA, died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at St. Mary''s Hospice in Bogart, GA. Born in Greene County on July 15, 1919, she was one of twelve children of the late Neal Mines of Bairdstown, GA and Mamie Patrick Mines of Penfield, GA. She grew up in Woodville and attended the Woodville School. She worked as a Looper at Union Manufacturing in Union Point, GA and worked for a while at Griffin Hosiery Mill in Griffin, GA. Her husband worked for National Life and Accident as a traveling insurance auditor and they lived thirty-four years in New Orleans, sixteen years in Gwinnett County and then she moved to Statham, GA in 2005 after his death. She was one of the oldest living members of Woodville Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Douglas Gresham on March 17, 2002; and her eleven siblings: Pulaski Mines, Herman Mines, John L. Mines, Hugh Mines, Sarah M. Thaxton, Bertha M. Tingle, Leo M. Tingle, Alma M. Murphy, Carrie Dell M. West and two died as children. She is survived by a daughter, Alice Lorraine Gresham of Statham, GA; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at Callaway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Farrett Boswell officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodville Cemetery, 1191 Peachtree Avenue E., Woodville, GA 30669. Serving as pallbearers are Jack Baynes and David Tidwell. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service at Callaway Funeral Home.
