Louise (Phelps) Moody

Mrs. Louise Phelps Moody, 88, of Tifton died Thursday, October 16, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, GA.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Callaway Funeral Home of Union Point, GA with interment to follow in the Wisteria Cemetery.  Dr. Wayne Roe will officiate.

Mrs. Moody was born in Greene County, GA on August 24, 1926, to the late Paul and Ellie Maude Jones Phelps. Mrs. Moody was former president of Tift Health Care, Inc. She had lived in Tifton since 1982 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tifton, where she was a member of the W.M.U. and the Joyful Sound Choir. Mrs. Moody was very active at all the churches in which Rev. Moody was pastor. She was married for 60 years to the late Rev. Robert Benjamin Moody, Jr., who died on June 11, 2004.  Mrs. Moody lived a life by example full of joy, kindhearted, smiling, caring, ever hopeful, always cheerful, always mindful of the needs of others, gracious and tenacious.
 
Survivors include her son, Douglas L. Moody, Sr. (Monie) of Chula, GA; grandchildren, Robert B. Moody, III (Sherri) of Macon, Douglas Lee Moody, Jr. (Tracy) of Dacula, Wendy Louise Gustin (Bill) of Foothill Ranch, CA, Marion Elizabeth (Liz) Green (Bryan) of Newnan, GA; great-grandchildren, Davis Lee and Madison Alexis Moody of Dacula, GA; and a sister, Sara Margaret Moon of High Point, NC.

Pallbearers include Bobby Moody, Lee Moody, Jr., Davis Moody, Kenneth Moody, Richard Moody and Charles Clayton.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Callaway Funeral Home in Union Point, GA.  Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Tifton, 404 Love Ave., Tifton, GA 31794.
