Mary Louise Brooks Canup, age 89, of Union Point, GA, died Monday, June 18, 2012 at St. Mary''s Hospital. Mrs. Canup was born in Lexington, GA in Oglethorpe, County to the late Waver Brooks and Lucy Mae Sanders Brooks. For more than forty years she was a knitter at Chipman Union in Union Point. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Union Point, GA.

She is survived by her daughters, Joann Mixon and husband Dwight of Crawford, GA, Lillie C. Piland of Woodville, GA, Ada C. Smithmier of Cartersville, GA; a son, J. W. Canup and wife Kathleen of Lexington, GA; a brother, Louie Brooks of the Bairdstown Community; grandchildren, Andria Boivin (Robert), Paul Mixon (Tina), Robert Mixon (Deborah), Katie Glowka, Douglas Canup (Paula), Nancy Hopkins (Mark), Steve Blakely (Laurie), Sarah Ann Smith, Jimmy Smith, Janet Evans, Alisha Kjorlaug (Jimmy), Evie Piland Hill, Rachel Piland Williams, Jenifer Piland Wilson (Scott); great grandchildren, Taylor Boivin, Blake Boivin (Jessica), Ashley Boivin (Joshua Channell), Josh Mixon, Jake Mixon, Jonathan Fletcher, Adrian Fletcher, Shawn Canup, Lindsay Hopkins, Blakely Hopkins, Seth Blakely, Zach Blakely, MacKenzie Blakely, Marshall Kjorlaug, Andrew Kjorlaug, Jamie Kjorlaug, Jeremy Hill (Lindsay), Jake Hill, Ashley Jeffords (Tommy), Alan Williams, Kimberly Williams, Dylan Wilson, Kaci Wilson; 12 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, James Coy Canup, who preceded her in death in December of 1989, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beulah C. Smith; great grandson, Justin Etheridge; and her siblings, William E. "Bubba" Brooks, Ollie Brooks, Dewey Russell Brooks, Helen Brooks Smith, Gladys Brooks Stratton and Lucille Brooks Parker.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 3963 Union Point Highway, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Bobby Tomlin officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street,Union Point, GA. Serving as pallbearers are Ed Ogletree, John Osborne, Mark Brooks, Josh Mixon, Blake Boivin and Carson Webb. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at Callaway Funeral Home. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
