Louise Bryan Obituary

Alma Louise “Lou” Evans Bryan, age 84, of Athens, Georgia, formerly of Greensboro, Georgia, died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospice House in Bogart, GA. Mrs. Bryan was born on May 9, 1927 in Anderson, South Carolina to the late Clarence Mason Evans and Dorcas Ginn Evans. In 1944 she graduated from Anderson Girls High School in South Carolina. In 1951 she married Jesse Goodwin Bryan, Sr. of Greensboro where they lived and raised their family. In 2005 they moved to Athens to be closer to their children. She was a homemaker and a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Bryan was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greensboro. In addition to her husband, Jesse Goodwin Bryan, Sr. of Eatonton, GA, she is survived by a daughter, Melanie Bufford and husband Buddy of Watkinsville, GA; two sons, Jeffrey Bryan and wife Brenda of Bishop, GA and Goodwin Bryan Jr. and wife Beth of Watkinsville, GA; two sisters, Sarelle McKinley and Sharlene Burnette both of Anderson, SC; three brothers, Alvin Evans of Anderson, SC, Bronson Evans of Iva, SC and Johnny Evans of Chesapeake, VA; five grandchildren, Bryan Bufford and wife Danah, Brett Bufford and wife Karen, Kristi Bryan, Melissa Bryan and Evan Bryan; three great grandchildren, Atalie Bufford, Josey Bufford and Hudson Bufford; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside Services will be held Monday, January 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Dennis Garner officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers any memorials be made to St. Mary’s Hospice House, P. O. Box 6588, Athens, GA 30604 or because of her love for azaleas and flowers that anyone plant an azalea in her memory. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
