Louie Carlton Brooks
Louie Carlton Brooks, age 75, of the Bairdstown Community of Oglethorpe County, died Thursday, March 5, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Lexington, GA on January 10, 1940 to the late Waver Brooks and Lucy Mae Sanders Brooks. He attended school in Lexington, Georgia and on April 16, 1965, Louie married Rovancie Nell Stratton. He was a machine fixer for Chipman Union and retired after 43 years of service. He attended Bairds Baptist Church in Bairdstown. Louie was an excellent gardener and enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed his family and especially being with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of nearly fifty years, Nell Stratton Brooks of the Bairdstown Community, he is survived by two sons, Michael Carlton Brooks and wife Brenda of San Antonio, Texas and Louie Mark Brooks and wife Michelle of Bairdstown; a daughter, Sheron Brooks Wiggins and husband Shawn of Bairdstown; grandchildren, Victoria Wiggins, Joshua Brooks, Matthew Brooks, and Jonathan Brumley; one great grandchild, Henri Sophia Brumley; and a number of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be held, Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bairds Baptist Church, 42 Bairdstown Loop, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Daniel Holdredge officiating. The family will receive friends, Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Dwight Mixon, Tracy Steele, Edward Stratton, Randy Fleming, Matthew Brooks and Joshua Brooks. Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Colbert, Ricky Howard, Tony Stratton and the Woodville Fire Department.
