Lottie Howell Godbee

Lottie Mae Howell Godbee, age 92, of Crawfordville, GA, died Friday, April 16, 2010 at Saint Joseph''s at East Georgia in Greensboro. A lifelong resident of Taliaferro County, she was born on July 24, 1917 to the late Joseph Thomas Howell and Jessie Viola Stewart Howell. She attended Alexander Stephens Institute and in January of 1935 married Ernest Franklin Godbee. She was an inspector for Royal Manufacturing Company until it closed and later retired from Taliaferro County Public School System after twenty years of service. All of her married life she was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed working with plants and flowers, gardening, cooking and watching television, especially soap operas. She was a faithful member of Crawfordville Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, Ernest Franklin Godbee, she was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne Godbee in 2008 and Thomas Franklin Godbee as an infant; and siblings, Marjorie Rhodes, Mary V. Nunn, Eula Burnley, Allene Veazey, Laura Rogers, Cleora Helrigle, Harvey Howell, Joe Frank Howell and Clyde Howell. She is survived by two daughters, Vivian Milner and husband Herrman of Crawfordville, Martha Ann Rogers and husband Laurie F. of Sparta; three sons, Ernest (Buddy) Godbee and wife Nancy of Milledgeville, Freddie Godbee and wife Kathy of Gray, and Randall (Randy) Godbee of Crawfordville, a daughter-in-law, Debbie Godbee of Crawfordville; sisters-in-law, Mary Howell of Sparta, Alice Rhodes, Corinne Godbee and Patsy Webb of Crawfordville; grand children, Cynthia Milner, Amy Milner, Carol Lewis, Frank (Dana) Rogers, Brian (Diana) Godbee, Bonnie Skaggs, Kevin (Janet) Godbee, Tricia (David) Zember, Melinda (Doug) Roberts, Aimee (Danny) Miller, Christi (Freddy) Akins, Lauren Godbee, Jim Thurmond, Angie (William) Ellington and Melanie Burt; twenty-five great grand children and four great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Crawfordville Baptist Church, 142 Memorial Drive, Crawfordville, GA 30631 with Rev. John Autry and Rev. Dennis Garner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Frank Rogers, Brian Godbee, David Zember, Kevin Godbee, Doug Roberts, Freddy Akins, Danny Miller, Andy Lewis, Marcus Milner and Jim Thurmond. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night at Callaway Funeral Home.
