Lorene Schmitt Obituary

Lorene E. (Leonard) Schmitt, 90, of Madison, and formerly of Monessen, PA, died Sunday, January 26, 2003. She had been in Madison Health and Rehab Center for the past 3 years. Lorene was the daughter of the late John Leonard and Nelle Ferguson Leonard. She graduated from Monessen High School and worked as a reporter for the Valley Independent in Charleroi, PA. Lorene married Tony Schmitt and they lived most of their sixty years together in Donora, PA. They owned and operated Spillway Lake for twenty-one years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony J. Schmitt. She is survived by four daughters, Carole Schlenke of Atlanta, GA, Renee Isaacs of Charleston, SC, Linda Frantz of Virginia Beach, VA, and Nancy McGill of Greensboro, GA; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Charleston, SC. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA, (706) 453-2626, is in charge of arrangements.
