Lois Jean Wheeler Gossette
Lois Jean Wheeler Gossette, age 89, of Greensboro, GA, died Sunday, October 14, 2018 at her residence. Born in Morehead, KY on October 27, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Preston Wheeler and Nell Caudill Wheeler. She graduated from John Marshall Law with a degree in law. For seven years she practiced law in Decatur, GA. On October 30, 1953 she married Lewis Stanton Gossette. In 1985 they moved from Decatur, GA to Greene County. Over the years she did clerical work for Peabody College, University of Florida, University of South Carolina and Florida State University. She was very community minded and helped start Friends of the Library in Greensboro, was a member of the Child Fatality Review Board and the Greene County Historical Society. For several months she and her husband helped to organize E H Armor’s historical items for his museum. She also taught reading to adults. For a number of years she was the choir director for Walker United Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Church in Greensboro. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, needlepoint and reading.
She is survived by her husband of almost sixty-five years, Lewis Stanton Gossette of Greensboro, GA and a number of friends. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
