Lillian Stephens Obituary

Lillian “Lee” Battison Stephens, age 70, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. Lee was born September 10, 1938 in Providence County, Rhode Island to the late Peter Battison and Lillian Gauthier Battison, and she was a graduate of Pawtucket High School. In 1971, she married Billy E. Stephens, and they have lived in Greensboro since the summer of 1988. During her working career, she was a shoe salesperson in Atlanta for twenty years and worked in the restaurant business for another twenty years. She retired in 1998 to fully enjoy living out on Lake Oconee. Lee loved painting, cooking, gardening, fishing and her beloved dog, Molly. She will be greatly missed by her family and the many lives she touched. Lee is survived by her husband, Billy E. Stephens of Greensboro, GA and their much-loved black Labrador, Molly; two daughters, Vicki and husband Richard Nace of Atlanta, GA and Barbara Ann and husband Chris Chavez of Albuquerque, NM; a son, Billy Stephens II and fiancé Karen Biedinger of Chattanooga, TN; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Nace, Ethan Nace, Desiree LeeAnn Chavez, Gabrielle Chavez, Ryan Chavez and Aaron Chavez as well as a number of other relatives and friends. Memorial Services will be held Monday, April 27, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel in Greensboro with Rev. Jimmy Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home.
