Lillian Bryant Griffin

Lillian Bryant Griffin, age 98, of the Veazey Community, died Sunday, February 8, 2016 at her residence.  She was born in Douglas, GA on January 5, 1918 to the late Lucius Garland and Mamie Dora Morris Bryant.  She graduated from Fort Pierce Florida High School.  Lillian was a retail clerk for J. C. Penney in Ft. Pierce, FL retiring after forty-four years.  As a child she joined the Baptist Church and kept her faith throughout her life. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend to everyone.  She enjoyed sewing, working in the yard and reading, especially National Geographic and Reader’s Digest, but the most important things in life were her church and family.  

She was preceded in death by both of her children, James Neil Griffin, Sr. and Gwendolyn Elleen Griffin; and brothers, Bill Bryant and Evans Bryant.  Survivors include her grandchildren, Deanna Holcomb (Ricky), Neil Griffin, Jr. (Susanne), Jamey Griffin (Missy), Lynn Brown (Michael), Kristy Cullars and Jonah Griffin; 16 great grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Brenda Griffin; sister, Edith Jenkins; and brothers, L. G. Bryant and Gary Bryant.
 
Funeral Services will be held, Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Callaway Chapel, 208 N. Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Marc Lhowe officiating.  The family will receive friends, Wednesday, from 12:00 p.m. until time for the service at Callaway Funeral Home.  Inurnment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA  30669.  Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
