Leora Leonard Leach
Leora Alonza Leonard Leach, age 96, of Greensboro, GA passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Boswell Parker Health and Rehabilitation in Greensboro, Georgia. Born in White Plains, Georgia on June 7, 1920, she was a lifelong resident of Greene County and the daughter of the late Senie Susan Johnson Leonard and Oran Leonard. Mrs. Leach attended school in White Plains and graduated from Greensboro City High School. For many years she worked for the Greene County Board of Education in the high school lunchroom. As long as health permitted, she was a faithful member of Walker United Methodist Church. Leora was a real people person who enjoyed going to church, participating in church activities, being with her friends and sharing her cooking.
In addition to her husband, Asbury Leach who passed away in January of 1974, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert “Bob” Leach; and three grandchildren, Tracy Lee Hairell, Rene Autry and Nichole Richardson. Survivors include her daughters Gayle Smith of Monroe, GA and Lisa Fuller of Oregon; sons, Billy Leach and wife Lois of White Plains, GA and Gary Leach and wife Mary Lou of Greensboro, GA; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 2 great, great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Walker United Methodist Church, 2730 Walker Church Road, Greensboro, Georgia 30642 with Rev. John Pike officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Keith Leach, Clay Leach, Ryan Smith, Bryan Leach, Michael Hairell and Steven Leach. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until time for the service Wednesday at Walker United Methodist Church. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
