She was the daughter of Sara Webster Roberts and Augustus Lee Roberts. She was the youngest of 7 children. She is survived by one son, George M. Dyar, Jr. and wife Cindy of Johns Creek, GA, one sister, Helen Brannen of Athens, GA and five grandchildren, Dr. Benjamin A. Sargent, Rebecca Leigh Sargent, Courtney Elizabeth Dyar, Melissa Lauren Dyar, and Jennifer Leslie Dyar: and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was one of five sisters who were graduates of the University of Georgia. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics in 1946. Her mother was also a graduate of the University of Georgia in the late 1800''s. She was proud that four generations of her family are UGA graduates, which also include her son and grandchildren. Education was very important to her. She proudly told visitors about the importance of education by sharing the accomplishments of her grandchildren.

In earlier years she was active in cultural affairs in Greene County. Her studies of landscape architect, horticulture, and floriculture aided in her active membership in the Greensboro Garden Club. She was a charter member of LaFleur Garden Club sponsored by the Greensboro Garden Club. She taught folk dancing to the adult 4-H club in White Plains.

She was employed by the Greene County Extension Service for eight years. During her employment, she was awarded the Best Home Demonstration Agent in the state of Georgia in 1949. Later she became a substitute teacher for Greensboro City Schools, Greene County Schools, and Nathanael Greene Academy for 20 years.

She joined the First Baptist Church of Sandersville and was baptized at an early age. Later she transferred her membership to the First Baptist Church of Greensboro, GA. Her church activities include membership in WMU and WMS and assisting with the Bible Schools. She was also president of her young women''s adult class and a substitute teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Monroe Dyar, Sr. on July 2, 2008 and her daughter, Carol Anne Dyar Sargent, on August 5, 2008.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 16, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the McCommons Chapel with the Rev. James Bowen officiating. Interment will be in the Siloam Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Terry O''Neal, Pat Dyar, Jon Dyar and Randy Prichard. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home. . The family requests that memorials be made to the Siloam Baptist Church, c/o Terry O''Neal, P.O.
