Leila Nickelson Wilson, age 88, of Madison, GA, died Saturday, September 13, 2008, at her home. Originally from Greene County, Georgia she was born on August 23, 1920 to the late Floyd Adolph Nickelson and Clara Maude Wilson Nickelson. She attended high school in Hillsboro, GA. She assisted the county nurse in Covington and worked at Alto with lung patients. For a while she was a waitress at Thompson''s Restaurant in Atlanta. After going to business school she worked as a secretary for a Cardboard Box Company in Decatur. While in Decatur she took some healthcare courses and became a caretaker for those returning home from the hospital. When she retired in 1990, she returned to Madison where she was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Wilson; daughter, Betty Kilgore; sister, Mary Virginia Cole; and brothers, Joseph H. Nickelson and Floyd A. Nickelson, Jr. She is survived by two sisters, Lillian Fay Walters of Madison, GA and Beatrice Nickelson of Greensboro, GA; two brothers, John Welch Nickelson of Portsmouth, VA and M. Louis Nickelson of Madison, GA; grandson, Robby Poss; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Greensboro City Cemetery in Greensboro, GA with Pastor Fernando Verduzco officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until time for the service on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
