Lawrence Corry, Jr Obituary

Lawrence Albert Baldwin "Larry" Corry, Jr., age 50 of Greensboro, Georgia, died Sunday, June 27, 2010 at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He was born on June 14, 1960 in Greene County Georgia to Lawrence A. B. "Bill" Corry, Sr. of Greensboro and the late Betty Ann Moore Corry. He was a 1978 graduate of Nathanael Greene Academy, where he excelled in football, basketball, track and tennis and a 1984 graduate of Georgia College where he received a degree in Computer Science and Math. On October 20, 1984 he married the former Tamie Temple and they made their home in Greensboro. Since 1984 he has worked for Putnam-Greene Financial Corporation Holding Company consisting of The Farmers and Merchants Bank of Eatonton, GA, The Farmers Bank of Union Point and Greensboro, GA, Citizens Bank of Cochran, GA and the First Bank of Costal Ceorgia of Pembroke, GA as the Data Processing Manager. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro. Larry loved outdoor sports such as hunting and boating and enjoyed gardening, cooking, grilling, dog training and keeping honey bees. For a number of years he was the C-team football coach at Nathanael Greene Academy and also enjoyed coaching kids in little league.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Tamie Temple Corry of Greensboro, GA; a daughter, Emmy Corry of Greensboro, GA; a son, Win Corry of Greensboro, GA; two sisters, Susan Spearman of Greensboro, GA and Jill Jackson and husband Larry of Conyers, GA; a brother, Eric Corry and wife Sara Ann of Suwanee, GA; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 117 South Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Dr. Ford G''Segner, Rev. Dr. James Choomack, Jr. and Rev. Stephen Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the Greensboro City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Benjie Bryant, Robert Bradley, Wade Moore, Zach Givens, Harrison Cheeley, Phil Sanders, Chip Benton, Joe Foster, Powell Griffith and Ricky Hardman. Honorary pallbearers are Ian Makins, Jeff Linder and Erwin Gettys. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at McCommons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church Renovation Fund, P. O. Box 26, Greensboro, GA 30642. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
