Larry Wayne Cox
Larry Wayne Cox of Greensboro, Georgia, formerly of Snellville, GA, died Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro, at the age of 64. Born in Atlanta, GA on June 15, 1949, Larry was the son of the late Walter Lee Cox, Jr. and Mary Rebecca Taylor Cox. He graduated from Avondale High School and attended DeKalb Technical College. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. On March 15, 1985 he married the former Arlene Diane Hambrick. Larry worked for the DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management under the Construction and Maintenance Division. He retired in 2004 and in 2012 they moved from Snellville, where they had lived for twenty-seven years to Lake Oconee in Greene County. He was a member of Kirkwood Baptist Church in East Atlanta. He loved being outside and spent a lot of time working in his yard. He also enjoyed woodworking and built many work benches and other things made of wood.
In addition to his wife of nearly twenty-nine years, Arlene Diane Hambrick Cox of Greensboro, GA, he is survived by a sister, Sherryl Cox of Decatur, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Terry and Betty Hambrick; a number of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home Chapel with Terry Hambrick officiating. Interment will follow in the Greensboro City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are: Bill Wood, Brian Payne, Rickey Payne, Jason Swoszowski, Steve Hambrick and Brian McClellan. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
