Kenneth Aren Waters

Kenneth Aren Waters, age 73, of Greensboro, GA, died on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Medulla, FL, on March 23, 1939 he was the son of the late Aren Bryant Waters and Cassie Kathryn Farnell Waters. Mr. Waters attended Mulberry High School in Florida. He worked for the American Baptist Association and pastored many small churches in Florida and Georgia. He served his country in the United States Army. On June 26, 1959, he married the former Yvonne Butler in Mulberry, Florida, where they made their home. They moved to Greensboro fourteen years ago from Ocilla, GA. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing and also enjoyed woodworking. His favorite thing to do and what he enjoyed most was visitation for the church. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro.

He is survived by his wife of nearly fifty-four years, Yvonne Butler Waters of Greensboro, GA; two daughters, Sherry Waters Patrick and husband Felix "Sam" of Greensboro, GA and Lisa Waters Chancey and husband Jeremy of Lithia, FL; three sons, Aren Waters and wife Vicky of Lexington, GA, Daniel and Joshua Waters both of Greensboro, GA; seven grandchildren, Christine Patrick Lockard and husband Sam, Felix Patrick, Jessie Waters, Haley Waters, Kendall Patrick, Cassie Waters, and Austin Chancey; a great grandchild, Kaelon Lockard; two sisters, Barbara Jean Richarz of Lithia, FL and Susie Allums of Mulberry, FL; two brothers, Bobby Waters of Mulberry, FL and Dennis Waters of Lakeland, FL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Becky Neib and Annette Lee; a brother, Leslie Waters, and two grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 203 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA with Rev. Rick Hermann and Rev. Wayne Hunter officiating. Interment will follow in the Penfield Cemetery, 1211 Cemetery Road, Penfield, GA 30669. Serving as pallbearers are Clinton Day, Josh Ellis, Daniel Steele, Chris Lantz, Eric Higdon, and Steve Strozier with honorary pallbearers Tim Simons and John Christian. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the First Baptist Church.
