Joyce Tankersley Ghann

Joyce Tankersley Ghann, age 84, of Union Point, GA passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro, GA.  A lifelong resident of Union Point she was born August 10, 1934 in Fort Gaines, GA the daughter of the late Ethel Peterson Tankersley and William Earnest Tankersley. In 1952 she graduated from Union Point High School.  On June 21, 1952 she married Emmett Kenneth Ghann. After high school she worked as a telephone operator and later worked in Crawfordville at a sewing plant.  Her last job was working for Caldwell Cleaners in Union Point, GA as the manager.  She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and enjoyed needlework, crocheting, reading and camping.  

Joyce is survived by her only daughter, Charlotte Yearwood and husband Ronnie of Union Point, GA; two grandchildren; Amy Coleman and husband James of White Plains, GA and Ryan Yearwood and wife Kaely of Union Point, GA; two great grandchildren, Sumner Coleman and Emma Lynn Coleman and one on the way; a brother, Gerald “Tick” Tankersley and wife Peachy; a number of other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Kenneth Ghann and a brother, Jack Tankersley and his wife Marge.

Funeral Services will be held, Monday, November 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, Union Point 30669 with Rev. Bruce Lovin,  Rev. Terry Duvall and Rev. Wayne Ghann officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church.  Serving as pallbearers are Ryan Yearwood, James Coleman, Sumner Coleman, Russell Tankersley, Zack Tankersley and Travis Tankersley.  The family requests that any memorials be made to Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.
