Joyce Charment Davenport Bryans 

Joyce Charment Davenport Bryans, age 76 of Madison (Greshamville) passed away on July 23, 2017 at Madison Health and Rehab in Madison, GA.  Born on February 3, 1941 in Blairsville, Georgia,  she was the middle child of the late William Jewel and Rachel Tatum Davenport. Joyce graduated from Union County High School, Blairsville, GA in the class of 1959.  

After high school, she moved to Atlanta, GA and worked for Glidden Paint Company as a bookkeeper. After the birth of her son, Bill, in 1963, she became a stay at home mom and housewife.  She gave birth to her daughter, Charment, in 1965.  In 1969 she became ill and was permanently disabled. Joyce was a wonderful mother and grandmother.  Joyce’s hobbies included gardening and reading.  She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Greshamville.  

Survivors include a loving and devoted daughter, Charment Bryans of Greshamville; a loving son, Bill Bryans (Marie) of Madison, and a  granddaughter, Camilla Bryans, whom she loved dearly.  Her siblings include:  Ann Davenport (deceased), Maudene Webb of Alpharetta, GA, Carol Calotta (Michael) of Shrewsbury, VT; Lanier Davenport (Jean) of Athens, GA, Maurice Davenport (Gloria) of Decatur, GA, and Kent Davenport (Joyce) of Canton, GA.  Joyce also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 
 
Funeral Services will be held, Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Matt Alexander and Rev. Mike Pritchett officiating.  Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home.  Serving as pallbearers are Charles Crumbley, Ronnie Ogletree, Fred Cook, Wynn Copelan, Toombs Lewis and Pat Tanner.   The family request memorials are made to Madison Health and Rehab at 2036 South Main St., Madison, GA  30650.  The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the late Alberta Ashley for the friendship and excellent care that she gave to Joyce in earlier years.  In addition, thank you  to the staff at Madison Health and Rehab for the care and love they have provided to Joyce and her immediate family for the last ten years.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
