Joyce Ann Hall Bowen

Joyce Ann Hall Bowen, 55, of Rayle, GA died Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. A lifelong resident of Wilkes County, she was born on October 13, 1952 to Martha Kennedy Hall of Rayle, GA and the late Grover Allen Hall. Mrs. Bowen graduated from Washington Wilkes High School in 1970 and attended Truett McConnell College. She married her husband, Rev. James Bowen on November 13, 1971. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at North Georgia College, was a Clerk at the Rayle Post Office and worked at the Salvation Army and Essex Crossroads in Washington, GA. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church where her husband has served as pastor for a number of years. In her spare time she enjoyed scrapbooking and reading.

In addition to her mother, Martha Kennedy Hall of Rayle, GA, survivors include her husband of nearly thirty-seven years, Rev. James Bowen of Rayle, GA; a daughter, Stephanie Helen Bowen of Rayle, GA; a son, Brandon Kyle Bowen of Rayle, GA; a brother, Boyce Allen Hall of Rayle, GA; a grandson, Scott Cameron Bowen; and a number of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Julie Elizabeth Hall.

Funeral services will be held at Sardis Baptist Church in Rayle, Georgia on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Newsome and Rev. John Mark Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Bowen will lie in state at the church from 12:30 p.m. until time for the service. Serving as pallbearers are Terry Watkins, Dr. David Kirk, Mark Justice, Bobby West, Jack Davis, Paul Bowen, John Bowen and Chris Lunsford. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. David Kirk''s Staff and Therapy Department at Wills Memorial Hospital. The family requests that any memorials be made to Siloam Baptist Church, c/o Terry O''Neal, P. O.
