Joseph Michael “Joey” Norris, Jr.
Joseph Michael “Joey” Norris, Jr., age 39, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Georgia Regents University in Augusta. Joey was a lifelong resident of Greene County. He was born on August 25, 1974, the son of Virginia (Jeni) Wilson Norris and Joseph Michael Norris, Sr. Joey was a graduate of Bethel Baptist Church School. For nineteen years he worked for Novelis Corp in Greensboro as the Area Team Leader. In his spare time Joey loved to work on cars and had built many over the years. He also liked building models with his son Trey. He was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Eatonton, GA.
In addition to his parents, Jeni and Mike Norris of Greensboro, GA, he is survived by his son, Joseph M. (Trey) Norris III; wife, Mallory Garmon Norris; brother, Steven B. Norris (Shelly); nieces, Katie, Lilly and Abbie Norris; maternal grandparents, Harold D. and the late Flossie Wilson; paternal grandparents, the late Clarence L. and Mary Norris; aunts, Ann Wilson and Donna Wilson; uncles, Ronnie (Jackie) Norris and Edwin (Jeanette) Norris; other aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends; and his cat, Jake. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Phyllis Norris Steele and uncle, Wayne Norris.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Mark Yearwood officiating. Interment will follow at the Penfield Cemetery, 1211 Cemetery Road, Penfield, GA 30669. Serving as pallbearers are Kevin Mize, Taylor Brook, John White, Jay Rusk, Fred McCannon and Alan Fleeman. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Robert Joseph "Bubba" Jump, Alan Montgomery, Bobby Brook, Paul Vandiver Jr., Delane Arnold and Stacy Adams. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at McCommons Funeral Home in Greensboro, GA.
