Joseph Willard “Joe” Leanna, age 94, of Greensboro, Ga. Died Wednesday, September l, 2010. Born October l, 1915, he was the son of the late William Leanna and Alma Olstram Leanna. He grew up and attended school in Wallace, Michigan. In 1936 Joe married Clara Josephine Haulotte in Woodstock, IL and they moved to Dunbar, WI. In 1937 where he was a logger. Along with his wife, Clara, they bought several businesses including the Algonquin Hotel in Pembine, WI. Which they ran for many years and with their dedication to their work were able to make these businesses very successful. When he sold the hotel he partially retired and bought a part ownership in the Four Seasons Country Club in WI; and enjoyed his pass time playing golf and being the greens keeper at the club. In 2000 Joe and Clara moved to Madison and Greensboro. In 2005 Joe moved into Willow Run where he met many wonderful folks and was happy there. He was a member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Leanna O’Neill and husband John of Greensboro, Ga. Two sons, Robert Leanna and wife Janice of Marietta, Ga. and Larry Leanna and wife Cathy of Milwaukee, WI. A brother Bob Leanna of Pembine, WI; seven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and twelve great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Haulotte Leanna on February 20, 2003: two great grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Barker, and Bradley Christopher Clanton, brothers Guy Leanna, Ray Leanna, and Bill Leanna.
A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro, Ga. 30642 with Father G. Philip Ryan officiating. The family asks that you join them in the parish hall, lower level of the church for a brunch following the service. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
