Jonel Simpson Obituary

Jonel Majeski Simpson, age 83, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Greene Point Health Care and Rehab. Jonel was born March 1, 1929, in Hartwell, GA to the late John Martin Majeski and Edna Wells Majeski. She graduated from Hart County High School and on December 23 1948 she married Emerson Joel "EJ" Fleming. In 1967 her husband''s work with Georgia Power brought the family to Greensboro. Mr. Fleming passed away on September 11, 1977. On February 17, 1984 she married Robert A. Simpson and they made their home in Greensboro, GA. Jonel worked for many years at Greensboro Florist and Duvall Livestock Barn. Jonel was an exceptional cook, loved to fish, shell pecans, arrange flowers and play cards, especially Rook. She enjoyed her family and especially watching her children and grandchildren playing sports of all kinds. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro, but most recently attended Bethany Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Simpson of Greensboro, GA; a son, Joey Fleming and wife Marcelle of Greensboro, GA; a daughter, Jana Fleming Ratliff of Powder Springs, GA; three step daughters, Dixie Webb and husband Mike of Greensboro, GA, Sandy Jackson and husband Stan of Murfreesboro, TN and Penny Davenport and husband Gary of Union Point, GA; step son, David Simpson and wife Sandy of Greensboro, GA; brother, Charles H. Majeski of Tifton, GA; grandchildren, Shane Fleming and Slade Fleming and wife Lauren; step grandchildren, Lindsey Stone and husband Keith, April Rhoades and husband Dustin, Jessica Allen and husband Nicholas, Christopher Jackson and wife Brittany, Russell Jackson and wife Kristen, Shaylynn Simpson, Savannah Simpson and Anenaca Simpson; great grandchildren, Caden Fleming and Haley Fleming; step great grandchildren, Thomas Jackson, Leighton Jackson, Owen Jackson, Beckett Jackson, Berkley Rhoades and Hadley Stone. In addition to her first husband, E. J. Fleming, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Reginald Dee "Reggie" Ratliff; brothers, Jimmy E. Majeski and Garland L. Majeski; and a step granddaughter, Alicia Simpson..

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 2999 Bethany Church Road, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Reggie Haslett and Rev. Dr. Norman Waldrip officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons: Shane Fleming, Slade Fleming, Christopher Jackson, Russell Jackson, Keith Stone, Dustin Rhoades and Nicholas Allen. The family requests that any memorials be made to Bethany Presbyterian Church, c/o Dixie Webb, 3061 Siloam Veazey Road, Greensboro, GA 30642. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday night at McCommons Funeral Home.
