Joleen Janet Adkins Lankford, age 54, of Greensboro, GA, died on Friday, January 11, 2019 at University Hospital in Augusta, GA.  Born in Laramie, WY on March 11, 1964 she was one of three children born to the late Howard Everett Adkins and Roberta Louise Collicott Long.  On January 5, 2004, she married Nicky Wayne Lankford.  Joleen completed a Certified Nursing Assistant course and during her working career she worked for Greene Point Health & Rehab in Union Point, GA  and Family Life Enrichment Center, Inc. in Watkinsville, GA.  She was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing, watching the Georgia Bulldogs and the Denver Broncos. She also enjoyed QVC shopping, but her most important job was spoiling her ten grandchildren and attending all of their sports games.  She was a member of Celebration Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Howard Adkins and Roberta Long she was preceded in death by a brother, Perry Adkins. She is survived by her loving husband, Nicky Wayne Lankford; her children, Mike Thwreatt (Jennifer) of Watkinsville, GA, Robyn Herrington (Jon) of Woodville, GA, Chastyn Thwreatt (Phoebe Jo “PJ”) of Greensboro, GA and Stephanie Lankford of Greensboro, GA; sister, Audrey Dickie of Orlando, FL; ten grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.  She is also survived by her beloved dogs, Cookie, Toby and Lilly.
 
Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 14, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at Celebration Baptist Church, 2470 Lick Skillet Road, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Kenny Marr officiating.  The family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Celebration Baptist Church.  The family requests that any memorials be made to American Cancer Society, 105 Westpark Dr., Suite C, Athens, GA 30606 or Celebration Baptist Church, 2470 Lick Skillet Road, Greensboro, GA 30642.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
