On January 12, 2017 Johnny R. Hurndon entered his eternal rest. Johnny was born in Smyrna, GA to the late Juanita W. Hurndon and Ralph M. Hurndon on July 9, 1949. Johnny was PVT E-1 in the United States Army. He served over two years in Vietnam. In 1970 he moved to Greene County and called it home until his death. Johnny’s passions were golf, softball, his woodworking and watching his family grow. Johnny worked at NIBCO in Greensboro. In his retired years he helped raise his grandchildren. He attended all of their activities. Johnny became the Cub Master of Cub Scout pack 312 and Boy Scout Troop 316. He was very proud of each Cub Scout and Boy Scout who was dedicated to become the best they could be. Johnny took care of his mother in the early and mid stages of her Alzheimer’s. Johnny was loved by the whole community and was known for his wit and dry sense of humor.
Johnny is survived by the lights of his life: Jennifer (Alan), Maryah, Seth and his pumpkin, Avery; his best friend, Anne; his sister, Joy Lynn; and his nieces and nephews and their families. He also leaves a host of friends. Johnny was preceded in death by his mother and father and an unborn child whom he never met on earth.
