After losing his mother when he was eight, his father married a good Christian woman who sat Johnnie on her lap and said "I''m going to make a preacher out of you" and that''s why people call him "Preacher" today. In 1964 he opened Johnnie Moon''s Grocery and Service Station in Veazey which he owned and operated until 1989. "Little Johnnie", as many people called him, was a big man in a little body. He loved all people and wanted to be of help anywhere he could.
