John Lester Mize

John Lester Mize of Woodville, GA, age 84, died on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Mize was born in Greensboro, GA on February 9, 1933, the son of the late John Daniel Mize and Margie McEver Mize.  Lester attended Union Point High School and married the former Juanita Smith.  For twenty-six years he worked as a carpenter for Russell Moore.  Later he worked for Chipman Union in Union Point as the Chief of Security for over eleven years, before retiring because of health.  He was a member of Woodville Baptist Church. Working with mules, fishing and his first love, working in his garden were his favorite pastimes.

In addition to his wife, Juanita Smith Mize of Woodville, GA, he is survived by a daughter, Nancy Ann Clements and husband Donald of White Plains, GA; three sons, John Wayne Mize and wife Joan of Woodville, GA; Jimmy Lee Mize and wife June of Demorest, GA and Tommy Joe Mize of Woodville, GA; three sisters, Margaret M. O’Neal of Siloam, GA, Christine M. Harris of Arnoldsville, GA and Shirley M. Harris of Florida; brother William C. Mize of Woodville, GA; six grandchildren, Becky Clements Doss, Mitch Mize, Justin Mize, Zach Mize, B.J. Mize and Stephanie Mize; four great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Dunn and Annie Lou Serpa.
 
Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Woodville Baptist Church, 1191 Peachtree Avenue E, Woodville, GA 30669 with Rev. Farrett Boswell officiating.  Interment will follow in the Woodville Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers are Zach Mize, B. J. Mize, Gerald Silvey, Mitch Mize, Keith Branyan and Autry Bramlett.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at Woodville Baptist Church.  Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
