John Courtney Rhodes, Jr

John Courtney Rhodes, Jr., age 34, of Crawfordville, GA, died Sunday, September 19, 2010 at his residence. Born in Greene County on May 27, 1976 he was the son of Linda Ray Barnett Rhodes of Washington, GA and John Courtney "JC" Rhodes, Sr. of Crawfordville, GA. In 1994 he graduated from Greene Taliaferro Comprehensive High School. He worked for Marble Works in Eatonton, GA for five years and for a year he worked as a caregiver at Willow Run Retirement Home. At the time of his death, he was working as a correctional officer for Hancock State Prison in Sparta, GA, where he had worked for the last ten years. John was a member of Margaret''s Grove Baptist Church in Crawfordville, GA.

In addition to his mother, Linda Ray Barnett Rhodes and his father, John Courtney "JC" Rhodes, Sr., he is survived by two sisters, Brenda Kay Rhodes of Sharon, GA and Sheila Rhodes Harris (Cedric) of Sharon, GA; a niece, Tionne Rhodes; two nephews, Tyler Rhodes and Terrance Rhodes; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Walker United Methodist Church, 2730 Walker Church Road, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Robert Robinson and Chaplain Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Alvin Rhodes Jr., Steven Rhodes, Jamie Rhodes, Johnnie Curtis, Andy Sidwell and Charlie Reid. Honorary pallbearers will be his co-workers from Hancock State Prison. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday night at McCommons Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
