JOHN JOSEPH FAERBER
John Faerber died on February 27, 2018 at the age of 87. Born on January 7, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri, he worked at his father’s service station from the age of ten through high school. As a member of the Air National Guard he served in Vermont and New York state during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge he again worked for his father and attended St. Louis University. He worked for the Mobil Oil Company before joining the Buick Motor Company. He worked with Buick in many capacities until his retirement.
John was married to JoAnn (Murphy) Faerber for nearly sixty-seven loving years. They have six children: Catherine (James) Craig, Michael (LuAnn) Faerber, Gary (Kathleen Cooney) Faerber, MaryJo (Randal) Lum, Mark (Babette) Faerber, Jeanne (Robert) Larson. He is survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and his sister Evelyn Mueth.
His commitment to his faith led John to become involved in the procurement of the property to build Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church where he served as the head of ushers and was a member of the Literacy Committee. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He volunteered as a safe driving instructor with AARP for fourteen years. He volunteered for other local organizations as well.
John loved his family; wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He cherished his friends and neighbors, and especially the dear friends he made through the Knights. His family is grateful for the help and outpouring of affection received during John’s illness and death.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 o’clock a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro GA 30642 with Father Roberto Herrera officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service in the church’s Sacred Heart Social Hall. Donations may be made to the St. Vincent dePaul Society c/o Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro GA 30642. A visitation will be held at the McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA on Monday, March 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. with the Rosary at 6 p.m. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
