John Marion Colclough

John Marion Colclough of Penfield, GA, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at his residence.  Born  on October 4, 1936 John was a resident of Penfield all of his life.  He was the son of the late William Benjamin Colclough and Marian Lucille Lovinggood Colclough.  He graduated from Greensboro High School and attended the University of Georgia. On December 26, 1957 he married the former Rita Ann Duvall.  He proudly served in the United States Army Reserves.  John’s working career began at Standard Oil Company and later he worked for Coca-Cola as the Warehouse Manager retiring after 25 years.  John was a member of Penfield Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Chairman of the Board of Deacons and Adult Sunday School teacher.  John was a pillar of the Penfield community and was one of the founding members of the Penfield Christian Home serving for over twenty-five years.  He also served on the Greene County Council for Better Living.  Family was most important to John. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He never met a stranger and enjoyed talking and joking with everyone.

In addition to his wife of  sixty-one years, Ann Colclough, he is survived by his sons, William Lehman Colclough of Clarksville, TN and John Benjamin and Jana Loyd Colclough of Athens, GA;  his sister, Lucy Hulsey of Winter Park, FL; grandchildren, Jack Colclough, Ben Colclough, Ansley Colclough and Emma Ford; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at Penfield Baptist Church, 1061 Mercer Circle, Penfield, GA on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bryant Miller officiating.  Interment will follow in the Penfield Cemetery immediately following the service. Serving as pallbearers are Jack Colclough, Ben Colclough, Robby Duvall, Joe Bashore, David Hulsey, Vince Hulsey and Tracy English. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Burt, Robert Harwell, Jeff Burton, Dennis Higdon and Richard Tolbert.
