John W Childs

John W. Childs, Jr age 81 of Greensboro,  GA passed away Saturday, May 27, at his home in Greensboro.  Born in Savannah, he was the son of the late Colonel John W. Childs and Viola Childs.  His family was most important to him.  He loved sailing, taking the family on RV trips and volunteering for various community organizations.  He was formerly a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro and most recently of the Greensboro United Methodist Church

He was preceded in death by his father, Colonel John W. Childs, his mother, Viola Childs and his sister, Virginia Sobraske.  He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol Lynn Childs, his sons Scott, Chris and John, III, and four grandsons, Steven, Milo, Mason and Dylan Childs.

A private memorial service was held at the First United Methodist Church of Greensboro on West Broad Street.  A Celebration of Life event will be held on July 8 at 3:00pm at the First United Methodist Church, 4741 Carey Station Road, Greensboro.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
