Joann Reynolds Obituary

Joann Queen Reynolds (84) passed away on August 7, 2019, sleeping peacefully at home, with family surrounding her.  She loved the Lord, her husband of 62 years, Charles Reynolds, her family and friends and found great purpose in each of the seasons of her life.

Born in Mississippi, she was the youngest of 4 children.  Soon after, she moved to and grew up in Miami, Florida.  She graduated from Miami High School in 1952.  Joann attended Florida State University.  Southern Bell was her first career.  In 1957 she married Charles and became a wife and homemaker.  She lived 29 years in Reynolds, Lake Oconee, where she was President of the Ladies Golf Association and President of the Homeowner’s Association.

Joann loved her family which she faithfully served as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was devoted to her three children, Jeff, Carol and Brad, supporting their interests as they were growing up.  Joann devoted many years to Westminster Christian School (Miami, Florida), the school they attended, in developing the school lunch program and serving on the board of directors.  She took great pride in her grandchildren, making efforts to gather the families together, on many occasions, creating fond memories.

Joann loved her church, Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church, where she served the congregation by taking care of the roses in front of the church.  Charles and Joann were one of the original church members, where they met in the Reynolds Community Gazebo.  She participated in bible studies and small group.

Traveling our country and the world with her husband and family were one of the things that Joann enjoyed most.  She cherished reunions with extended family, where she was best known as the matriarch of the family.  She loved history and family history in which she cataloged decades of family pictures and information for families to come. She was an amazing golfer, winning many tournaments here.  A fierce competitor, she loved the game of golf with friends.

She was most proud of each of her children and grandchildren and their love for the Lord Jesus.  She was a humble, kind and serving woman, who was welcoming of everyone and seldom missed an opportunity to offer support to those in need.
