Joan (Anderson) Coddington

Joan Anderson Coddington, age 76, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019 at her residence.  She was born in Alpharetta, GA on March 11, 1943, the daughter of the late Robert Anderson and Jessie Staton Anderson.  She graduated from Duluth High School. She proudly served her country in the United States Army as a nurse.  Later she worked for Scientific Atlanta, Inc as a supervisor. Before moving to Greene County, she lived in Duluth where she also worked as a nurse.  She enjoyed crafts of all kinds.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Joseph Coddington, Jr. in 1999, a son, Randy Coddington; and brother, Sam Anderson. Joan is survived by a daughter, Connie Witherow, a son, Joey Coddington (Gina); brother, Gene Anderson (Teresa); two sisters, Jane Corley (Dallas) and Janet McDowd; six grandsons, Richard Witherow (Cassandra), Jeremy Witherow, Bret Donaldson, Joseph Coddington, Austin Coddington, and Justin Coddington and a great granddaughter Serenity Witherow; a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel with Chaplain David Luke officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow at Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642.  Serving as pallbearers are Richard Witherow, Jeremy Witherow, Joe Coddington, Joseph Coddington, Luke Byers, and Cameron Tomlin.  The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
