JoAnn Butler Lewis

JoAnn Butler Lewis, 62, of Greensboro, GA died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Greene Point Health Care Center in Union Point. She was born January 26, 1947 in Wilkes County to the late Frances Stamey Butler and Josiah Hoffman Butler. JoAnn graduated from Union Point High School in 1965, where she was a cheerleader and played basketball. After her mother died, when she was four, her aunt and uncle, Nina and William Hackney helped raise her. For over twenty years she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. John Morrow of Washington, GA and later retired as an office manager for Rayle EMC. She was a former member of Bethesda Baptist Church, but was now a member of Woodville Baptist Church. Her many interest included being a former pink lady, shopping, knitting, reading, animals and watching movies.

Survivors include her husband, Johnny Lewis of Greensboro, GA; two sons, Bud Kennedy of Union Point, GA and Bill Kennedy and wife Wendy of Bluffton, SC; a brother, Joseph Lee Butler of Greer, SC; four grandchildren, Brittani Kennedy, Brandon Kennedy, Hannah Kennedy and Grace Anne Kennedy; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at Callaway Funeral Home Chapel in Union Point, GA on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Farrett Boswell officiating. Inurnment will follow at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. Any memorials may be made to Woodville Baptist Church, 1191 E. Peachtree Avenue, Woodville, GA 30669.
